
Office of The Municipal Manager
The Municipal Manager's office oversees the efficient operation of the Municipality. The Municipal Manager serves as the Accounting Officer. The responsibilities and authority of the Municipal Manager are explicitly defined in the Municipal Finance Act of 2003.

Municipal Manager:
Mr. Motlatsi Makhetha

As the Municipal Manager, Mr. Motlatsi Makhetha leads the Administration and is responsible for the overall effectiveness of the Lejweleputswa District Municipality. His duties include formulating and drafting corporate strategy, as well as overseeing the management and execution of the Council’s business plan, referred to as the Integrated Development Plan (IDP), which is implemented through the Service Delivery Budget Implementation Plan (SDBIP).

Mr. Makhetha is tasked with ensuring that council decisions are implemented efficiently and effectively. He manages daily operations, oversees staff, and delivers essential municipal services to the community. In doing so, he adheres to the relevant laws and policies established by the elected council, serving as the vital link between political leaders and administrative staff.

Managing Administration: Overseeing all administrative functions of the municipality, including budgeting, financial management, human resources management, and asset management.

Financial Accountability: Acting as the accounting officer, responsible for the municipality’s financial records and compliance with financial regulations.

Staff Management: Appointing, supervising, and disciplining staff within the municipality.

Strategic Planning: Contributing to the development and implementation of the municipality’s Integrated Development Plan (IDP).

Community Engagement: Fostering communication between the municipality and the community, addressing concerns, and ensuring transparency.

Reporting to Council: Regularly providing updates and reports to the municipal council on the status of operations and performance.
